Dip sticks should have a number stamped into them about mid-way up the piece that goes into the motor. My 20V has got AW020 or something like that stamped into it. I'll check it next time i do my oil.

umm if you think about it the VE also has shorter upper oil pan compared to the DE motor due to not having the girdle and so on. It would make perfect sense why the DE one is longer. While the DET is shorter on the side where the lower pan connects to compared to the DE.
Im using DE pans on my VE block so I continued to use my DE dipstick as well. Never a problem.

has anyone measured the "tube" the dipstick goes in to see if they are all the same length...if not then these lengths may not be accurate???
If the tube is shorter...the dipstick would go deeper.

This is so simply true, I'm ashamed for not thinking of it before. Looks like you're the only one using any brains on this.
