Rebuild
Hi guys, i've recently acquired a new bottom end for my car that I want to rebuild before fitting as it is on 176k miles so want it to be nice and fresh. What exactly is needed?

piston rings,
headgasket,
rod bearings,
main bearings,
thrust washers,
front and rear crank seals.

Is there much else I need or is that it? Anything I should change after such mileage like oil pump? Reason for rebuild is not just for it to be fresh but i'll be fitting 16ve pistons while it's open

cheers man, should be okay with everything else after that? Ill be replacing the tensioner with the N1 tensioner also

If you have the money I would put in a new oil pump. Just for piece of mind more than anything else.

Sleeve the block and do 92mm 14:1 pistons

head and main bolts. you need to verify the old ones have stretched, but most likely they have....theyre relatively cheap from the dealer so its a good piece of mind to replace those.

I've an oil pump from low mileage VE, might just use that as haven't the money for a new one just now

I'll get some ARP ones so while im at it, might as well future proof the engine

I would use mazworx headstuds and arp or gtir mains.
