Good luck. On mine the bolts were so frozen on there they just broke when we applied any pressure to them. Had to replace the back calipers on both sides. That wasn't cheap!

Well I wouldn't exactly be making a thread on it if it were as simple as pb blaster, heat, hammer, or vise grips. These all didn't work. Only thing I didn't try was a socket hammered to it, but I was hoping to find a way with less risk of damage to the caliper and/or the threads. Seems like that's the only thing left though.

haha no, they are brass or something soft, hence why they sell a special tool to avoid stripping them, on the other hand i have seen some aftermarket steel ones..

I agree most of them we see are soft metals, my advice would be to buy new calipers. I can get some nice calipers that come with a black coat from the factory, obviously the bleeders still might get stuck with age, but they don't get that rotten aged look as quickly.

If your gona put some heat on it a propane torch won't cut it 99% of the time . Take the calipers off and swing by a local shop to use the big torch ! Heating it up for 15-20 sec till it glows red should get her out any longer and youll transfer heat through to the piston seal .This should be safe to the seals . GL

i've got an acetylene torch but have been hesitant to use it...maybe it's the route to go, worst case is buying new calipers anyway.
