pressing bearing failed, what is to blame?
Today I brought both of my wheel bearing assemblies to garage, together with new bearings to let them press them for me.

When I picked them up, the first assembly was fine, the other just won't press, something is too big.

Looks ok from this side:

When I lift up the assembly, this is what is left behind on the table:

And the ring in the last pic, that one had to be pressed on to.

So I suppose it is a bad bearing, but I would like to hear what you think.

The inner race is pressed onto the spindle. The outer race is pressed into the hub. From the looks of your pics, I think it looks normal. Just put it back together, stick your axle through, and run your axle nut down with an impact. If that doesn't work...go warranty your bearing. :P

Lol, yeah I figured it would stay in place that way too.

But I'm not going to mess with wheel bearings.

This is really weird, but also my first bearing replacement so I can't tell how weird.

It is sad that I can't tell you one way or another about this.
Regardless, you seem to be missing the grease seal.
That's all I've got, sorry.

Yes, the guy pressing for me, which is educated properly, didn't put it in.

The missing ring on the first pic also falls out, I figured that is normal.

And the other assembly is just fine. If he started with the other assembly, I was putting my car back together this evening, I happen to have only used a right assembly, the other left also was broken (audible bearing noise) and it also seems like the left bearing goes first usually, I sold that thing more then once.

i no on my b15 theres a snap ring that goes in after u press the bearing, it might be a different setup but thats how i always seen them, just pack some grease and slap it on, or like he said get a new bearing under warranty, u paying for hte job, get it done right

True, but getting the bearing myself saved me 32 euro each... That is also about the damage I have now. But that I could care less, I need annual inspection and then install a bushing kit and more with no time pressure.

This bearing joke set me back 2 weeks now.

Well, atleast I received a phone call and the voice told me the pictures where unclear to him and he asked me if he should send another bearing and I said yes please. The brand of the bearing is a big one. Hope to finnish this job soon.

I forgot to ask, also a little wishful thinking, but I installed one of the wheel hub assembly's and of course felt the bearing.

It isn't running like a bicycle wheel that does tick tick tick for 30 seconds. It is way more dragging then a good used one.

Should I worry about the bearing (again) or even on the person that runs a garage and pressed them for me?

Does it make sense a new wheelbearing, after 100 miles for example, will have a lot less drag or am I having bad luck (again)?

Gaaaaaaaah!

The replacement wheel bearing has the same problem. Tomorrow I'll try getting that part on the second pic in the first post, from another wheel hub assembly, some other stuff on this Nx when I bought it turned out to be Mickey Mouse repairs, so maybe that is why the central nut on the axle turned out to be loose and all the bird noises from that side.

I'm totally fed up with this.
