Grinding noise from trans area
I am getting a weird grinding/vibration noise from the trans area....or bottom side of my car not sure what that could be . You don't hear it at idle, I hear it when I accelerate, I hear it on deceleration as well. The closest thing I could describe this too would be some harsh clutch chatter, or this almost sounds if the axle is vibrating in the trans. This is baffling me.

does engaging/disengaging the clutch change any noises?

Have you looked at the bearing on the passenger side axle?

Ok so I took the car out today. I seems like I am getting 2 different grinding noises I am not sure if one is causing the other as of yet

- in neutral car parked I don't hear the grinding

- in neutral car parked, I pressed on the gas..no noise.

- The clicking /vibration gets very loud during driving when the car is in gear , If I tap the gas and let it go quickly the grinding stops for a fraction of a second then then the noise continues.

- When the car is in forward motion 30mph , I pushed and held the clutch down the noise dies down but you can still hear the grinding.

No but I switched that passenger axle with a different axle and I continue to hear the noise

Yes , I describe this up above.

What I think maybe causing this but am not sure,

- possibility the abs rings are rubbing the non abs inner hubs?
- Axle might have popped out the trans?
- Transmission is ready to give up the ghost aka needs to be replaced.
- since I am using a ve block and i'm not using a pilot bushing with the trans there maybe is a misalignment issue with the trans shaft and the block.

All make pretty good sense. I'd work my way from the outside to the inside, eliminating possibilities as I go. Check everything humanly possible, even busings, bearings, cv joints, the whole nine. Last this you want to do is eliminate everything else and drop the trans in hopes of finding the issue just to be back at square one. To me, sounds like it's a drivetrain issue around the axles/hubs, but I could be wrong. Hard to tell without some serious inspection.

That's a good idea wingman, I think am going to dedicate a day this week just for doing that. I let you know what I find. I sure Hope I don't have to drop the trans again I really don't have the proper tools for back yard jobs.... a Craftsman 150 piece set.....does not give me enough confidence to do it again by myself. Maybe I'm just getting old and starting to lose my passion.

It's funny that you say that Lynch because I am getting alot of engine flex. My rear, front and passenger side mounts are all energy suspension and my driver side is a Jwt mount , so it does not make any sense to me why this is happening, It feels like the factory mounts are still in the car.
