Thread: Does anyone know what RAD FAN 3 is for?

My 92 NX2K used to be an auto. Maybe its an auto thing? I've read that other people's cars had nothing in that spot. I have one next to my horn relay on the passenger side.


Then I've the normal 2 on the driver side.

mines the same way on my 91 nx....except the slot for rad fan 3 is empty on my car....no relay

is your car manual? If so, was it originally auto or manual? I'm thinking it's an auto thing? Maybe it makes the fans kick in if you're in over drive?

It's probably due to the automatic fans having two speeds. I don't remember as I hard wired my fans right after I got the car lol.

Hmm...didn't know they had 2 speeds? I swapped mine to manual. I'm looking into a few things for a future tuck, and this is just one I couldn't decipher from the foldout. Maybe that's why the diagrams showed a 2, an 4 wire fan. Mine is 4.

Yeah the 4 wire fans have 2 speeds.

Well mine only seem to run flat out anyway. It did that when I was still auto. I'll be switching to flexalite soon anyway.

Each set of wires is a power and ground for the two speeds. I have mine setup so I can run the faster speed during the summer and slower during the winter. I only run one though, mounted in the center of the radiator.
