Those rubber pieces suck ass. A long time ago the ones on my break pedal cracked up, and fell out. I replaced them with some short 10mm bolts, and nuts. I also had to adjust the switch a little by screwing it out a little since the bolt heads were thicker that the old rubber.

I've done this a few times, mostly because it makes it easier to work on the car if you can just lean in there and turn the key.

It is definitely less safe but not much. Just don't turn the key w the car in gear.

I hear some people hook up a toggle switch. Has anyone here done this?
