Clutch pedal question
My pedal has had to be pushed down almost to the floor since ive had the car to get it to start. Well ive noticed more recent that you have to put it in teh carpet to get it to fire up. The clutch in it still grabs very well. its a ACT. Dont know about what stage or anything but it was put in when i bought the car. I have putting about 9k very easy miles on the car. My question i dont think its a clutch issue that it goes to the floor. It only does it on start up you dont have to push it way down to shift gears. Any suggestions to get it off the floor a bit? Is there some kind of adjustment i can do to the cable itself? And for the hell of it can i overide that whole pushing the clutch in to start it ? I did it to a corolla i had once before. I did search for about 30 mins i dont ask unless i do. Way to much tranny clutch info to search through..lol. TYIA!

i overrode it just by putting a paper clip in the connector that goes to the clutch switch

You can add a nut and screw on the clutch pedal so you don't have to push it all the way in. The rubber piece on the backside of the pedal is probably worn. You can also just bypass the switch.

If you want to just adjust the clutch cable do the following. (This won't help your issue though)
Go to your engine bay.
Locate clutch lever.
Locate clutch cable on the clutch lever.
You will see a nut on the clutch cable. Loosen that first.
Hold the clutch cable with a small wrench while you turn the cable adjuster to the right(it looks like a wheel).

Go into the car and test the clutch pedal out.

Adjust to your liking.

Posting from my phone_ otherwise I would post pictures up to show you how to adjust the cable.

i just cut the plug out that plugs into the switch and connected the 2 ends with a butt connector.

The idea of putting a paper clip in there is stupid and not the right way to do it.

If you want the clutch safety switch to work its probably the tab on the pedal that has the rubber piece on it is probably bent. You can bend it forward so that it contacts the clutch switch sooner. They get bent over time. If you want to bypass it just wire the two wires from the connector together. Solder and heat shrink to avoid any problems. You can also adjust the clutch safety switch. Its screwed into the pedal assembly and held tight by a jam nut. But more than likely its the tab on the pedal bent. Just rebend it.

You have your options open.

Just because its ghetto doesnt make it a stupid idea. It is by far the easiest way to do it and ive had it like that for about 6 months and its worked everytime. Also it makes it reversable just incase you didnt like it or maybe you want to sell your car in the future and dont feel like rewiring your shit in such an inconvienent place and all you need is a paperclip.

Lol i wont lie to you i went looking i didnt find no switch or no tabs. Right above the pedal i see the two pieces that look like tabs on teh right and left side but i dont see a rubber piece. The tabs im referring too are silver and they have a hole in them that look like a crusty piece of plastic was in there at one time. Sorry im not the mechanic some of you are...lol. Im A. blind on one eye and cant see half the crap i need to and B. have to be close to what i am looking at and at six foot three its hard to snake up underneath the dash
