Your FSM for your car will tell you what the voltage range should be for your TPS, at idle at a particular RPM etc. etc. You can test it with the DMM and see if you have a problem there. DMM's are cheap if you get a cheaper quality one, can get them at any hardware store or parts store.

^When is the last time you checked/changed your plugs? By the sounds if it, you beat on that car a lot, so it might need a new set.
