Doesnt matter what pump is on there if the oil sloshes away from the pickup tube for extended periods of high lateral g's on long right hand turns. Probably what happened more than likely.

Whats up with most sr spinning the #3 rod bearing? I've seen a few sr with spun bearings and its always the #3....

Not always but more times than not yes the #3 is the one to spin. Its an oiling system design thing if i remember right.

I believe the story of the shell and the pearl also comes to play.

That little hole has to lube the whole thing so I guess there will be metal contact anyway because of the power generated and those rods want to go in all directions but up and down. So you want to keep the margins tight and also have a strong oil film. Something has to give, maybe just replace them on a track car?

Are there 'better' bearings that last longer and are good to the crank? I'm beating mine all day now, with regular oil.

Can we proof somehow what would be the best brand of oil and bearing? It is about the most important thing in the engine I suppose.

That is a bearing with 120k on it, had decent oil changes, but it was driven hard by some stupid 'driver license owner'

p.s. I am a firm believer in additives like zinc, graphite or MoS2 (Molybdenum disulfide)

ACL race bearings are a better bearing than the oem again just from the design and material. They can take more abuse before spinning. The reason the bearing usually spins is when it gets that dry contact it ends up breaking the holding tabs of the bearings and then they spin. The ACL's are stronger and can take more of a hit without breaking that tab on the bearing plus the material wont wear near as fast period.

The little hole in the bearing is not what oils the rod bearing. That hole is to oil the rod pin and nothing more.

Ah, I see. I should have gotten myself ACL over genuine Nissan.

What exactly does lubricate the bearing? I do not understand.

Pretty bad for saying i heard the knock and coasted for 1 minute and then shut down, i started once after for a few seconds to let a mechanic hear it to confirm.

On the plus side i have a good crank and rods already and collecting bearings local tomorrow evening, then gotta rip the engine over the weekend

Lol, I am slow. The bearing lubricates the bearing I see it right there :o

The lubrication to the bearing comes from the hole in the crank journal. lol. Those small holes are for lubricating the rod pin when on the top half of the rod and the bottom one just serves as a pocket but really doesnt do anything.
