Thread: New K&N Oil Filter?

K&N sent me an email on July 15 indicating they have a product update for my 200SX SE-R.

It was a new oil filter with some premium media and anti-drain back valve

The only K&N oil filters I have seen for my car were white and had the bolt pattern on the top that you could use a wrench or socket on.

So, are these new? I guess K&N wouldn't lie to me, would a large corporation do that to little old me?

I've never seen them in the stores, this last year I've been using oem nissan filters from greg v and have had no problem with them at all, even with 9000 miles on the filter they dont seem to restrict oil flow or loose hp.
One of the few times I ran out of oem nissan filters (i change my oil every 30-40 days, which is about 8000 miles) I went and bought a k&n white canister filter it seemed like the engine had more hp in the beginning but it quickly fell off by 3000 miles, I changed it back to an oem quickly. this is by sotp not actual numbers.

I regularly get my oil tested by blackstone, I usually change it out at 8000-9000 and they say I could easily go 3000 more, I use castrol syntec 10w-30 and about 3/4qt regular lucas in my ve.

So far I'm liking this oil filter, if its still performing well at 3k I'll be stocking up on them since my g20's got a ve it only makes sense plus I'll save on shipping if I order through summit.
