Thread: timing chain tensioners

Is the DE and VE tensioner the same?
Whats the difference in the new style tensioner and the N1 tensioner?
Can you use the N1 tensioner on a DE?
I am changing one on a DE and want to upgrade if there is an upgrade available.

From what I hear, the style was changed for the P11s, it's a thicker piece that holds a bit more oil and gives better tension on start up.

The N1 piece comes out a bit further and puts more tension on the chain so it stays taut. I think either one should work on a DE, but to be certain, ask Greg V. He sells both kinds.

its not worth the extra bucks, ive never had a tensioner fail on me, ever.
