Thread: Aftermarket Motor mounts

Do aftermarket polyurethane mounts get soft over time? I have a full motor mount kit installed and when I press the throttle and let it go it feels like the engine is bouncing around like the mounts were factory....all hardware is tight. The mounts are probably 3 years old...I didn't remember this much flex when they were first installed in my older car. Feed back appreciated.

They probably do break down over time. I had that same issue and it ended up being my rubber bushings on the crossmember where shot so I replaced them with solid ones and haven't had a problem since.

i got prothanes and from what i hear they will outlast the car and everything around it

That's what I heard Jen, that's why this question came about. I am going replace the bushing in the cross member like Boosednx said and see if I get any improvements because the last time I checked two of those bushings were worn out ,but I didn't think it would cause this much engine flex so I left them alone..
