Thread: whats wrong with my sr20 wierd noise

It could be signs of a bearing getting ready to spin. I would but a set of standard ACL bearings and replace them. Could be something like the upper timing chain guide. The bearings are about 40-50$ shipped and probably a couple hours time to change them. Better off doing that than spinning the bearing complete and destroying the crank or possibly throwing a rod.

COULD be something rattling as well (best case scenario)

i would also try a new timing chain tensioner

check the engine to see if it has oil.

rods are usually more pronounced IMHO. Used a stethescope on it? Finding exactly where the noise is coming from is half the battle.

I did not hear anything worng?. That tapping could be a lifter, that probably needs to be bled.
