again this happened to me because one of the throw out bearing clips was broken...

move the shaft with TOB on it tranny off ofcourse and see if the shaft gets stuck 1/4 of the way

when this happens everything needs to be replaced... again..
T/B
Pressure plate
disc
and ofcourse the magical Throw out/bearing clips.

Unfortunately not the issue. Destroying of the splines is going to be an alignment issue, not a tob issue. TOB is going to manifest itself as a pp problem or a clutch disc with excessive wear. Considering the engagement and disengagement of the clutch never had an issue, I ruled that out before even taking down the trans.

I didn't find anything except other people asking the same thing when I searched. Maybe if someone could give a definitive answer, anyone looking to replace them can do so with ease.

Maybe call Greg V and see if he can get you some new ones? Then measure with calipers and see if there is a size difference?

I agree, have never been able to remove them without using vice grips, seems weird that they would come out by hand.

Is the flywheel bolted up flat on the crank? That is, it does not wobble when you turn the engine over? Also, check the tranny input shaft to see if it is bent. It might be tight in the bearings, but if it is bent as it turns, it could cause problems.

Input shaft is in great shape, as I stated before. No wobble or wear. As for the flywheel, there was nothing noticeable when I took the trans off and turned by hand, but the only true way to know is to put a dial indicator on the flywheel after a resurface and check it. The mating surface on the inside to the crank, though, doesn't have any variance in height; that is the flywheel appears flat against the crank's center mating ring. Worth noting also, I got the flywheel resurfaced during the most recent replacement.

Nobody able to snag some dimensions of the dowels?

I doubt the dowels are what's worn an its most likely the aluminum case that's wearing bigger

Only way to know is to have a measure to compare it to, plus I want to replace them anyway

You will have to check the flywheel and RESURFACE it to be sure that it's straight, if not that will cause that the clutch make a lateral movement that damage the splines of the clutch. That happened to me in the past. For the brand of the clutch the ACT is the better one because they have the stronger spline hub. Go to your near machine shop and check your flywheel!!!!, I'm pretty sure, that's your problem.

I had it resurfaced when I put this ACT clutch in.
