What's this sound?
This video was taken by my cell phone. It's pretty bad quality. Anyway i think this is my chain tensioner, but i want to confirm.

There is only 1 tensioner on the SR's.

Might sound stupid but I had a similar noise and it would change when I pushed the clutch in. Make sure its not that first. (I couldn't tell it was from the transmission with just hearing it)

It sounds like the chain slapping the upper chain guide because the tensioner is fully maxed out on adjustment.

Remember how yours was first broke and you got a spare one from Matt at the meet? I am sure that the one he had laying around was on its way out anyway.

Ye I remember. So you think its the tensioner going again? Or is it the guide?

The chain guide is just a piece of metal with rubberized pray on it. With excessive play the chain will whack the rubber off and hit metal.

This slack is caused by the tensioner failing to hold the chain tightly so it slaps the guide. I had this problem, took the chain guide off, noise went away. Put it back on, noise came back. Replaced the tensioner with an updated new Nissan OEM part and the noise went away and the upper timing chain guide is still there and the noise went away. The upper guide is still there now.

I think you should replace the tensioner again and re-evaluate any noise changes.

Replace the tensioner, the VE does not have the upper chain guide.
