Come on fubar you know you didnt have an upper chain guide and think you do? I know you have popped that valve cover open. I watched you do it!!

we always used to remove the upper chain guide, I didn't know the VE lacked one

The tensioner that was on the VE was cracked. His b15 roller rocker went into another car so that other car needed the tensioner.

An act of charity, he was given a tensioner that was probably on its way out.

That was me not paying attention. I meant slack side or tension side guide.

I guess i am gonna have to get a new tensioner. Should i get the N1 tensioner on the gspec site or maybe a p11 or b15 tensioner. I know the newer tensioners are better than the old ones, but do all tensioners work on a VE?

AFAIK, there are 2 or 3 versions of tensioners. Get a new OEM one and it will work. The difference is in the teeth. Older ones have fewer, larger teeth. The newer ones have more, finer teeth and works much better at keeping proper tension on the chain.
