Thread: Need some help just finished the swap

93 B13, JDM SR20


Alrite guys well after going through 1 GA, 2 SR's, i finally have a good JDM in my b13 .

I did all the mechanical parts and some of the harness, my buddy finished up the harness and all the vacuum lines. or so i thought. lol

Start the car, it wont hold an idle, at all. cant stay running

I did notice on the bottom of the charcoal canister he left one line unplugged, it is the one directly on the bottom of it, its got some sort of a nipple i think, maybe even a cap but i cant tell being that the hose is really short. can someone check it out on there car?

Theres one connector on the driver side shock tower that isnt plugged in, its the only connector on the shock tower, dont know what its for...

One more thing, on the distributor itself, there is a little male end connector, looks like it would be some sort of ground although i dont want to ground it out.

the line on the bottom of it is the fuel evap line i believe. the line should be going back to the fuel tank iirc. the plug on the drivers side shock tower is probably cruise control. is it behind it by the clutch cable? if so then it is cruise control. Also i don't believe i am using that ground tab on the distributor either so you should be fine without that connected if there is a ground that goes there. Just check all vacuum connections and check for leaks. I had a vac line go bad to the FPR and my car ran like crap. Opened the hod, heard a whistle, felt around and found it.

it really sounds like a vaccum leak to me. when i had a bad vac leak it would start, but immediatly die.

Yes certainly sounds lik a vacuum leak or something set up wrong. CHECK YOUR COOLANT TEMP SENSORS. A lot of people forget to swap in the USDM ones with the JDM ones that come on the engines and as a result the car runs like crap.

Also make sure that your air regulator hose is hooked up properly! GL!

yea all the sensors are swapped.

im at work now but im gunna go at it again when i get home, im pretty sure its a vacuum leak but i wanted to make sure about that hose underneath the canister.

it would start and die, then u would hear a whistle, dont really know whether it was my intake or the leak...ill post it up tonight when i figure it out

My car did the same thing when I installed an intake on it. The MAF adapter didn't fit perfect, and caused a ton of turbulence at the little metering deal, it would start, not idle, but if you revved it up, it would rev fine, but SPEW gas.. It shot flames a couple times that night.. It was neat.

I'm rocking a stock intake because the one I had sucked bad.

put on a jdm avenir intake, forgot to plug the nipple for the wastegate...
