Long Rod SR
So I finally did something notable. I build a long rod SR20VE. I used an H22 rod and had JE make some custom pistons. The pin is into the oil ring so you can't go much longer. The rod ratio went from 1.56 to 1.59:1 .

The rest of the engine is pretty stock, it has a good valve job, some simple valve unshrouding and matching of the seats to the ports and chambers. The compression is exactly 11:1

My power went from 197 to 205, peak torque was the same. The only effect the longer rod seemed to have was more area under the curve at the power peak and at the beginning of the torque curve. The torque curve got flatter and fell off less. The torque and power peaks are closer.

More area under the curve and a closer power to torque peak are about what I expected. The engine also feels smoother near 8000 rpm and I am going to raise the rev limit to 8300 rpm.

Not a huge difference but interesting.

have you got to play around with any big bore VE's?

No they are not reliable enough for road racing plus I am at my target power already.

Had to narrow the big end a little but pretty easy otherwise.

Mike How can I believe your finding if you cannot even give the rite rod ratios???

stock sr20ve

sr20ve rod length 136.29mm
Stroke stroke 86mm
Rod ratio 1.584

h22 rod length 143.15mm
Stroke sr20ve 86mm
Rod ratio 1.664

Please explain yourself

Mikes been around for a while I doubt he would be bullshiting us numbers , although I'm sure he still has a few tricks up his sleeve

Did you use H22 springs and retainers with the N1s on this build ?
