I'm trying to replace my clutch cable... I'm looking under the car at where the cable catches the hook on the trans... Looks like there is a little clip holding the current cable in. Do I pop that guy off? Is it re-usable or what is this thing I'm looking at? Trying to get my ducks covered before I get started.

I have a FSM and in the picture I'm not seeing this little clip I'm seeing on the car...

the new cable will come with a new one. Just loosen it all the way so you can remove it from the lever.

Mine broke a few days ago too. It was an autozone replacement, so i went got my worn OEM and works like a charm, worn out but feels even beter than the cheap TSK they sell at autozone.

I ordered an OEM one from a vendor on the forum and it didn't come with one. Damn it...

Mines not broken it's just been sort of stiff since I bought the car. I bought the cable a while ago and just decided to try installing it because I'm trying to prep my car for a 700 mile road trip.

Anyone ever try to re-use the clip? I just sent a PM to Jrios the vendor I bought it from to see if I can get one separately. I swear this clip isnt even in the FSM picture unless I'm just not seeing it.

Im trying to replace mine today. I have a B14 200SX. Two questions;

1. How do you reach cable in the engine bay next to the firewall? There is something in the way, and I cant figure out how to move it.

2. How do you reach the end of the cable that hooks up to the clutch pedal? The pedal is on a bracket that is very small. I cant even get my fingers to where it needs to hook up.

Any help would be appreciated.

I never had to touch the cable on the fire wall. once I unhooked it from the trans, and then the pedal. I just pulled it through from the bay.
As for the pedal part.. its a bitch, read through the first page, a guy posted write up that helped me alot!

I reused the OEM clip that was already on my tranny.
The one that came with the new cable was to short.

Just pull it foward a bit and lift up and push back. Then grab the whole cable inside the bay after taking it out of the securing point on the frame rail under the master cylinder and pull it out of that metal sleeve attached to the firewall.

Install in reverse order. Put it in, hook it onto the pedal and then hook it onto the trans. It literally takes 5 minutes to change out and you can do it on the side of the road. Ive had to do it for friends before.

Again dont remove the sleeve from the firewall. Its not necessary and its a waste of time because its not the proper way to do it.

Thanks for the tips, your explination is very helpful. I stll can't believe after owning my nx since 1999 or 2000ish i have not had to replace mine up until now. Very easy to do once you have done it. I also ordered a spare as the breakage and no one stocking them lead to a tow bill from the drag strip.
