my set up is B13 stock SR20VE, JWT ecu, DE maf.,
For starter..

Sensor type, is it Pressure? 5in 5out?
Hi/low thrtl i had them all at 0 (is adding up the % making the car rich or lean?)
TH-Point i have it set at 25, 50
Dec. -Air what do i do here previous owner had it at 20%
Knk set. i dont know
DataFile what do it do, is file 1 on or file 2on?

Trying get the car to idle, it too rich.
BTW previous owner had this SAFC on his DSM.
help me out. Thanks.

Set all the settings back to factory settings on the safc and leave that shit alone unless you have a tuner tune it or have a air /fuel ratio gauge to tell your whats going on with the current settings.

^^ What he said.

But, if your determined to use it, the first thing you need to do is "Initialize" the safc.

Our airflow sensors are the "hot wire" type. I CAN tell you that for a DE MAF, you'll probably set your IN/OUT to 6 & 6. If you are running stock injectors, then there is really no need to set your high/low fuel, unless you are wanting to lean out a little. But, I advise against ANY of this without a good wideband O2 sensor and gauge to verify your air/fuel ratio. I can't stress this enough.

Your Throttle Point is where you will determine where the high and low graphs are in effect. Low is 0% to whatever you designate the end of the low throttle range to be. I believe a lot of people set it from 12% - 20%. High is sometimes around 40%. Dec Air is Deceleration Air. This is to help compensate for turbo applications with airflow sensors in regards to running an open blow-off valve, instead of recirculating. If your not turbo, this should be set to ***, and NOT used unless you are experiencing very rich conditions and backfire under off-throttle decceleration.

I would suggest reading the manual THOROUGHLY before messing with a safc. As incorrect settings can destroy your engine. My advice is INITIALIZE, and set your sensor type to HOT WIRE, 6 IN/ 6 OUT, and # of cylinders to 4, and make sure the throttle arrow is pointed UP to the 2 o'clock position. That desinates the way the throttle position sensor is read by the safc. Then, ZERO EVERYTHING out, read the manual, THEN go from there.

Here is a link to the manual in .PDF.

Don't know what you have exactly, be it an original SAFC, SAFC2, or VAFC, but here you will find the downloadable manuals for all.

Thanks NightStalker that was alot of help, Way Way much more and better then just saying put everything back to Factory Setting...??? right for a newbie lol. By the way i have a SAFC II and just wanted to have it on and make sure i can drive it so when i take it to the tunner shop i wont get charge for them installing it and it be easy and faster to get the car on the dyno.

You also have to set the throttle point % as well. You go to settings and throttle menu. It will tell you to have throttle all the way up then to press it all the way down to set parameters for tps voltage.

Your welcome. I strongly advise against trying to tune with the safc alone. It does an okay job of tuning for larger injectors or small fuel changes, but it's still sketchy about the way it does it. It's also limited to changes of +-50%. And, you can't adjust timing with a safc. If you're planning to stay N/A, it's not so much a problem. But if you plan on adding a turbo later down the road, that's when the safc won't help you too much. But since you are taking it to be tuned, you shouldn't really need it much anyway.

I have a basic chipped ecu myself, and I still have my safc2 connected. I just like to keep it around for monitoring purposes. A fancy digital gauge more-or-less.

6 in 6 out? I have a de maf with 1 in 1 out and it's fine?

You can do any number if they match for.stock maf. 1-1, 3-3 etc. Because it.doesn't correspond a change to the sensor output.
