Gas leak or exhaust leak?
Ugh.. The other night after driving hard went to a drive through and while up against the wall to get my food it was making my nose burn and was making me feel sick by how bad the smell was.. It always does it when I'm by a wall but not when I'm in the open. I have a exhaust leak from missing a exhaust manifold stud on the side but I personally doubt it would make that much of a stench. What are your guys opinions?

Is the exhaust flowing freely or is it idling rough?

a bad o-ring on the fuel pump will cause a raw gas smell in the car.

It only smells on the outside of the car like when I have my windows up it doesn't smell in the car at all

Mine did that as well. Windows up and no gas smell. Windows down and plenty of gas smell. Turns out the idiots who installed my new gas tank didn't remove the tabs around the gas tank 0-ring, causing it not to seal properly. So it could be your o-ring.

To me that sounds like a slight exhaust leak

I am not ruling it out but this is the mysterious smell of the sr20's ... I had no exhaust leaks my o rings were good and it still smelled like pure exhaust fumes pouring into the car. Never was able to track down the source after countless hours of diagnosis.
