Header gaskets
Question, it is recommended to put some kind of exhaust sealer on the metal gasket to get it sealed properly? Or should I use only the metal gasket. I never had an issue with my header when I installed on my car years ago, but lately I have a small exhaust leak and I need to put a new gasket.

Also, are these any good?

I don't know who sells metal gaskets for Hot Shot headers G3.

Most will say just use the gasket, but I've gotten to where I always use the copper type high temp gasket maker as well. Just a small bead around the edges to ensure that there's no tiny leaks anywhere. When using large amounts of nitrous, tiny leaks at the head makes for melted spark plugs lol.

I like the OEM SR20VE MLS gasket Greg sells, with no additional sealer. I'm not super against the sealer idea though, just never found it necessary.

Will a VE header gasket fit a DE ?

The manifold gasket is easy to find, the gasket for the secondary pipe is the one I'm going to use. I haven't found metal gasket for it. Hot Shot used to sell these.

The OEM SR20VE MLS gasket that Greg sells fits perfectly on a DE. The bolt holes in the same place and the port holes are the same size and location, if maybe slightly larger in the gasket. Really it's a win/win.

Edit: Whoops. Wrong gasket. You meant the secondary gasket. =(

I went through the same thing for my Weapon R header (to be installed soon!). The parts guy at Advance Auto was really cool and walked me to the back. We looked at tons of gaskets and found the 93 Subaru EJ22E or EJ18E are nearly identical. The holes ALMOST line up exact but its close enough to where I just lined up one and used a drill to open the last 2 holes. The holes overlap a little vs the holes in the gasket and there is plenty of material on the edges. That was just a test fit but there shouldnt have be any sealing issues.

AeroNX thanks for the Copper Gasket Maker I will pick some up for use here, the gasket is very close and this will deffinetely seal it. That will take any doubt away, nice.

Part# and prices via Rockauto.com
FEL-PRO Part # 60992 $4.20
WALKER Part # 31613 $3.99
BOSAL Part # 2561001 $3.14

Well I'm not really sure how well it'll line up with your HS gen 3 but it works great with the SSAC which is a copy of the hs design. I've been through about 3 of these so far lol.
