Proving the worth of an SE-R….
Does anyone know how to go about proving the worth of their car after its been totaled? I was in an accident last week, and the insurance company representing the at fault driver has totaled my car and sent me an offer of $800 which I think is inaccurate. Now for the facts:

It’s a 1992 SE-R, 200k miles, never been in accident before, not a single spec of rust, never been repainted, nearly all original except for a header, intake and B14 rims.

Some forum members have seen this car and can attest for its ‘cleanliness’.

Most if not all of us here on this site can estimate an SE-Rs worth, but how do I go about proving it to the insurance company?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm, possible idea:

Have your own insurance company or own personal appraiser come out and do an appraisal and have the other party foot the bill??

I would say about $2,000. But where are you located, in Jamaica? I looked on KBB and that's the estimated price I got.

tell them you can't replace it for $800. Show them ad's for SE-R's. Tell them to either provide you with an SE-R in the same condition or the money to get one on your own. Goodluck.

Its going to be hard to convince the insurance company of its worth in all honesty. Same thing happened to my B14 SE-R. KBB is a good source to quote, although that will be low too. Maybe even craigslist. If all else fails, small claims court. I had to do that, took 6 months

This is really good advice, I think that insurance companies lump these cars in with all the other Sentras on the road.

I remember they tried to fuck me on my Spec V when I got in an accident.

FYI, all insurance companies I've known use NADA not KBB to come up with an estimate.

But, I'd go with going finding comparable SE-R's online (private party) in the area.

nada private party is like kbb trade in value.

When I had my first 240sx totaled out it was the other drivers fault. Her insurance company went online and found three 240s with similar mods that were for sale and averaged out the prices and gave me a check for that amount. So you should be able to do the same. She had Progressive and I have State Farm.

Its her insurance, they are going to try and lowball you as much as possible. Do your research, get prices, then go after them., If they refuse then turn it into your insurance and they will go after them for you and get the full amount, thats what i had to do with mine.
