Thread: Car idles fine now after tune up

There is some white smoke though. When I rev it to 3k the engine shuts down and I hear this click sort of sound, kind of metallic sounding. What do you guys think? I'll have a video up tomorrow.

Did you have this problem at all before the tune up? What did your "tune up" include?

Is the engine warmed up when it does this or from a cold start?

From inside, when it cuts off how doe the guages respond? Rpm die first or do all electronics die at the same time etc.?

That's the craziest sound. Never heard anything like it. Could be the throttle plate is loose? I dunno man... That's a new one...

I don't know if your problems are related. The engine trouble at 3k sounds like the most pressing matter. Like NX2KTuner said, what did your tune-up include? How were things before the tune-up?

Hey guys appreciate the responses, now to get back at your questions.
This was taken while the engine was warmed up. What I did was change the valve cover gasket and seals, plugs, spark plug wire, cap and rotor. I changed the valve cover gasket because I was getting oil in cylinder 3 and 4. Before when I'd pop the plug wires they would be covered in oil. I haven't changed the fuel filter yet, and I'm going to clean the IACV.

Before the tune up it would idle very lumpy and eventually just die out. After the tune up it idle's steady but when given gas it chokes. There's also white smoke coming from the exhaust, and it smells of gas. I can save the idle by giving it gas but some instances it just shuts down with the snap of a finger. The gauges all respond normal to me.
