Transmission rebuild worth it?
Hey guys,

Just wanted some opinions on a transmission rebuild. I got a b13 LSD trans off a forum member but he said there were more than 150k miles on the trans. It was used as a daily driver and track as well so it's been beaten up for sure.

I called a local transmission place and they said the labor for rebuilding would be about $500 plus any replacement parts that could cost up to another $500 if severely damaged. As far as I know the trans properly works and there is no 5th gear pop out.

Now should I rebuild the +150k trans or just slap it on and use it until it does have issues?

Just slap it in and use it until it has issues. Although now might be the time to preemptively do the 5th gear pop-out fix if it hasn't been done already. That is, if you're mechanically inclined.
Don't sweat it and just put the thing in. It will be fine.

Agreed.

Do NOT rebuild that tranny unless you can do it yourself.

Otherwise, buy a pre-owned B15/P11 tranny for a grand and have a much, much beefier and better engineered tranny.

Agreed again.

Mine came out of a 280k NX. Don't know if it's original, but the case seeps a little, and there's a bit of slop in it to make me think so. No problems with it at almost 300K. Best 75 bucks I ever spent. If it works, just use it. My grandpa always said don't fix it if it aint broke. He's got 50+ years experience working on cars, which includes 3 nissans he has.

if your willing to spend a g note invest in a p11 tranny. its stronger, has longer gears wich is better for a turbo car. there fairly newer and you could find one under 70k miles if you search.

stratton.

I took my transmission apart and 100% recommend you do it yourself.. Give your self 3 hours of time and you'll be able to rebuild it taking your time. Alls you need is snap ring pliers and basic sockets.. Do the 5th gear pop out fix and be done with it all. I regret not doing it to mine =\
