Redline gear lube
I'm currently using redline shockproof. I'm doing my clutch soon and will be replacing the gearlube opposed to reusing it. Previously I ordered it through a vender who just shipped it out. With a friend now working somewhere who can score me a mean discount, I come to find out there are different grades of "shockproof." heavy, lightweight, and super lightweight. Which do I want???

Even my boosted car is going back to MT-90 after using Heavy Shockproof, and then a mix of 50/50 Heavy Shockproof/MT-90.

MT-90 all the way unless it is a dedicated track car.

But to answer your question, you want the Heavy Shockproof. The lightweight is not recommended for synchronizer transmissions because it is much too slippery and super lightweight is completely unusable with syncronizers. It is like water.

I put the lightweight once and it would scratch 3rd on hard full throttle shifts.

Also ran the heavy and it was a bit too heavy for regular use. It doesn't heat up and protect unless you are flogging the car around quite a bit.

I'd go with the mt or a 50/50 mix of mt/heavy like Ben said.

Just in case you forgot Jensen. The transmission takes more than 3 whole bottles to fill.

I been around man...the car sleeps for the winter :-) making my way around now with a slipping clutch isn't exactly my idea of fun or long ride appropriate. Ordering clutch within the week and gettin back to roasting tires VERY soon!!!

Thanks guys for the help, yet again! I love this place! :-)

This may date me, but so be it. I can remember when using Heavy was one of the "tranny savers" we had to do to protect ourselves. I am just trying to understand why you wouldn't want the protection we used to look for. I realize times change and so must we. But I'm not an engineer or chemist. I'm just trying to understand the change in philosophy.

BTW, I still use the heavy and if I need to change help me out.
