Clutch break-ins
They usually say go 500 miles for a clutch break in....Does the same rule apply the clutches with ceramic pucks? I went about 600 miles took the car down the quarter and when I power shift it takes a brief moment before the clutch grabs and is ready to go again I feel like this cost me some time down the quarter....Should I give the clutch more break in time...granted this is a f1 racing 6 puck clutch not the best quality in the world I will replace it when I am able to afford something better.

I have the same clutch (waiting for my ACT to come right now because a spring popped out of the F1), and I put a solid 700+ on it before it stopped slipping under boost. After it got to that point it grabbed hard and never gave me any problems until now.

Approximately how many miles did you put on that clutch before the spring popped out? The one I had had like no way the spring could pop out the spring windows in each spring area were only a quarter inch big. Maybe this was a area they improved upon in the future. I ordered this one a year ago.

Topdog781,

my friend got a new clutch, the same one that you have in the picture and the spring poped out with less than 1000 miles.

yeah, the housing around the spring breaks with it. The old ones have no way the spring can pop out either but like i said. The housing breaks around the spring and then it pops off.

yep, f1 clutches suck. My buddy got one for his evo8 and it lasted all of 10k miles before it was worn down to nothing and slipped like crazy. It never grabbed hard at all and was slipping under heavy boost the entire time after breakin.

It was in my car for a year and a half (minus about 5 months of downtime for a rebuild). Exact mileage unknown, but definitely no more than 10k. I thought about just getting another and being on my way, but I figured I'd give an ACT full face a shot this time around.

I loved my ACT clutch before i went to the twin disk. I used both the sprung and unsprung disks. I liked the unsprung just because its more rigid and yeah no worries of popping springs out but not only that its more of a precise feel in the drivetrain. The sprung disk i had took a lot of abuse and never blew a spring out.
