So what broke?
So I was at the drags tonight and after a couple runs I was up and just chirped the tires real quick and boom my transmission went. I can still put it in gear but it just revs when I hit the throttle. I was still able to get it to move but very very slowly. I was just wondering if anybody has any idea of what could have broke and if it would be repairable; or if I should just toss it and get one from the junkyard. Thanks.

That happened to my civic when I burned up the clutch... It would slip slip slip but kinda grab. I say clutch

I looked at the axles when the tow truck came they looked fine. My clutch pedal still pushes in and it seemed to feel the same. The car was running good and the clutch and everything was grabbing fine and then right before my third run when I chirped the tires it almost felt like it just popped out of gear into neutral. Could my clutch have like exploded?

Yeah there is a big possibility that it could have. Think about it though, you chirp the gear, that puts a big strain on the clutch which could cause it to have the padding come off. Nothing else seems possibly wrong other than the clutch

chirping gears is rough on fwd tranny's. It's nice to get into gear quickly to save every .10 that you can but it very rarely pays off to speed shift our trannys.

yeah but if it was transmission related it wouldn't be able to move at all

did he say that it moved?? thought he said he can put it in gear but it just revs? Anyways it doesn't matter I never said tranny was the problem, I'm saying that speed shifting and chirping gears tears shit up. Unless you have the power to break the tires loose when the car is in gear, it does no good to make it chirp hitting the next gear. You're basically using the momentum of the flywheel to catch the next gear when you slam that clutch disk back against it. No bueno.

Just my $.02 though people do what they want...

I got off topic anyways Thomas. I'd pull it and take a look before I went and spent the cash on a junkyard tranny. Might be something simple inside the bellhousing. And this way if the tranny is tore up you can show us pics of the carnage...we all like those

If you call running the 1/4 mile in 64 seconds and 40 mph moving then yes it did move

Hmmm. I think Im going to take a look at my drivers side axle again and just make sure nothing popped out. When I can get it to move very slowly it feels like the only thing moving it is the lsd. As in one of the axles isnt moving the car at all but because it is an lsd it will make it move. Idk if that made sense but thats what it seems like
