dumping fuel
I just purchased a Nissan 200sx with a sr20de motor its an automatic motor with a 5 speed transmission the car smokes out of the tail pipe and idles a little bit he said its dumping too much gas and i can smell it faintly and to come to a stop i have to tap the gas sometimes or it will turn off. but when i do press the gas when i stop and come to a stop the rpm drops from 1000 to like 500 then goes back to 1000. the egr valve isnt connected at all so i was wondering if thats it. so im just wondering what it could be how much would it cost to get fixed and is it an easy fix for me
he said something about the vacume lines also. Oh and the engine was just put in 4 weeks ago and it has like 30,000 miles on it.

Thanks

You just joined like a few hours ago man. Did you at least search a little before you posted this vaguely descriptive stuff? Try reading the forum rules man. There's tons of info out there about most, if not all of your problems, and how to correct them. This sounds like a bad swap. You got to take your time when doing these things, since small things get overlooked easily. Why dont you get that guy to help you out? Or maybe he's in over his head, and said to hell with it.

You have a vacuum leak, probably EGR. Unmetered air is getting in, hence your RPM's drop. Might be your maf too though.

so if i plug the egr up then check my maf it should be ok. i know i might have to check something else though but thanks for your help Vadim

and my egr valve is the black plastic one. i dont exactly know where this one goes i knew where the older ones went.

EGRs aren't plastic. On the highport they were on top of the intake mani in the center. The newer lowport EGRs are still on the mani, but lower down close to the throttle body. They bolt to the side.

I went to autozone so they could run a diagnostics test and they came up with my MAF and EGR Temp Sensor

MAF is bad or is poorly grounded. Or vacuum leak.

well i took it to the shop and the people there said they wasnt going to work on it because the wiring harness wasnt for the engine which a friend of mines said also so now I have to find a wiring harness for a sr20de motor.
Note
I cant find a sr20de wiring harness
