My 218xxx DE was running about the same or a little less MPG. My DE had the 02 sensor hooked up, which is also brand new..

Without the O2 sensors your gas mileage is going to be horrible. The ECU can't read the A/F in the exhaust without the sensor. As the others have said you are running the car in open loop....dumping fuel while cruising.

Now unless you have serious balls, you will never fill up 13.2 gallons. You really really have to drive the car empty. Most I've ever filled was 12 gallons and the light was on for more then 30 miles.

With no O2 sensor the ECU has to go by the fuel maps, aka open loop. That means it will run what ever they say. With O2 sensor, it will tune itself to 14.7 until you WOT it basically.

Two ways to get around this...
1. Get an O2 sensor
2. Get a Tunable ECU and make the fuel map leaner while cruising.

P11 > All 16 gallon tank FTW

gotcha, thanks bro!

I can not help on this question. I have never, ever, ever, checked my fuel mileage on my Classic in 18-years of driving it. I am always surprised at how many folks on the forum(s) pay attention to the fuel mileage religiously.

I know it is a 4-banger, but I know I do not drive it like they do in mileage tests. Red-line is my friend.

I calculate my MPG every fill up. I get 26-28 MPG driving to and from work 70% surface streets 30% highway and when I travel back home I get 32-34

I check my mileage every time I fill up as well. The highest I've seen since my rebuild is 22mpg. I typically get 17-20mpg. It's awful! I figure my poor mileage is due to the ITB's making it so hard to stay out of boost (even on normal "light driving" it will build 3-4psi). I do take advantage of the power I'm making regularly though. Strangely (and I know this sounds weird and there are numerous other uncontrollable variables), I got better gas mileage when I was more abusive on it than when I babied it for the entire tank.

When the temperature changes my AFR's change, but I try to keep it updated enough to be where I need. I shoot for 15.1-15.9 at cruise. Idle as long as it's above 15 is fine, and it's almost perfect to being at 12.0 even all the way up to the top under boost after about 7psi.

I know I've read online somewhere that the NX had a 10.5gal gas tank, but after more looking around today, I'd have to assume that information was incorrect. The most gas I've every put in my NX in 3+ years is 11.0gal and I just assumed I filled it waaayyyy up. Once I hit a 1/4 tank it starts acting like it's out of gas, so that's my fill-up point. On average I put about 9-10gal of gas in my tank every time and get about 180-200 miles out of it. I've also never seen a gas light come on in any of the 3 NX's I've owned over the years... heh.

The only time I ever really run the car hard enough to engage the vvl is on ramps to the highway. Other than that, I may do some spirited driving every now and then.

I'm 35, I've figured out no matter how fast you drive (legally), you still get there in the same amount of time.

ON my B14, full turbo with AEM EMS and 50lb injectors I was getting 32-34MPG. The P11, stock outside of an AEM CAI was getting me 30-32MPG. My buddies VE swap was netting 28MPG. I think it is in how you drive honestly. Most of my driving is highway.
