B15 trans swap questions.
I have a B15 trans on it's way for a swap into my NX. I have read that the reverse & neutral switches cannot be swapped because they are a different size. So connectors from a B15 or P11 must be used.

So my question is for anyone who has done this swap, where did you get your connectors? Can they be ordered from Nissan, and if so, what are the part numbers? I've read they need to be soldered in place of the old connectors, I'm just curious as to what others side, where acquired them, etc. Hopefully some can shed light on the subject.

The trans I got was already converted, but during the install the solder on the reverse switch came apart. I ordered a new one and then took it to the junkyard with me when it came. I went over all the Nissans I could find until I came across an I30 that had the same connector as the new reverse switch and took the other half off that car. I cut the old connector off my car and used butt connectors to put the new one from the I30 in, keeping the entire reverse switch wiring and connector intact. I'm sure the same can be done with the neutral switch.

I was looking up the part and I think they used the same part from 2001 onward for manual cars. Any idea what year I30 it was?

Butt connectors is actually an idea I had not previously though of. If I cannot get the part until after the trans swap, I'll go that route. if I can get it done before/during, I'll go the soldering route.

I don't recall the year. The piece I pulled wasn't from the reverse switch on the I30, it was just a connector that was the same I found up near the pass side ft strut tower. It is just a generic connector that Nissan used around that time, so check everywhere in the bay of similar-year Nissan/Infi's. That's why I took the new switch with me to the junkyard, to test ones that looked similar. The one I pulled had a lot of wiring attached to the side of the connector I needed, so that when I connected it to the B13 wiring, I was able to tuck the butt connectors out of the way where it wouldn't get damaged or exposed to the elements.

Well that's good to know. I have a friend who works at a Nissan dealership near me in the parts section. He said when the trans comes in, to pull what I need and we'll find connectors that fit. From there, we can just re-pin the two. I appreciate the idea though. I'll keep it in mind if necessary.

Glad to help. Get ready to enjoy the gearing! Although in the future I might swap in a P11 5th gear or something if this car remains my DD. 4k rpms on the interstate seems a bit much, but I'm still in the low 30's high 20's for mileage.

I think it's more the final drive on the P11 that stretches the gears out. If you are NA, I'd stick with the B15. With the way my NX reverberates exhaust noise, I'm usually at around 60mph, although it gets a bit quieter when it's at 4k/75-80mph. At 4k, how fast are you going on the highway? 80mph, cuz that is about where I am on my B13 trans.

I guess I'll see when the trans arrives. Did you have to both the reverse and the neutral switches?
