Engine codes p0325, p0110
On my way to work I noticed the car bogging/ hesitating at low rpms (under 4000) like it usually does but it lasted longer than usual, I looked on the scangauge and it had p0325 (knock sensor), and p0110 (iat malfunction), the o2 heater circuit malfunction comes up every once in a while. This is the first time I've seen the knock sensor one come up.

The car is a 98 sentra with a ve swap, it was tuned for 87 octane and that is what I've been using for the last 15,000+ miles, I've had the car since january, use 87 octane and fill up almost every day,

The iat reads -40 on the scan gauge and is hooked up, when I changed the coolant hose under the intake manifold I noticed a wire that was frayed

I traced it to the knock sensor but the frays seem to be a shield around the wire, I just put electrical tape around the connection and put everything back together, recently the coolant temp sensor (gauge) has been acting up, I tried replacing it but it still does it, I suspect its the wire somewhere, the ecu sensor reads fine (that's the one I go by)

Do you think the knock sensor is something to worry about? could I have gotten some watered down gas? (happened at 1/2 tank), I usually only go to 2 gas stations one by my work and one by my house one is a bp, and the other is a sams club, I've been getting a consistent 29-32mpg all highway, I use castrol syntec 10w-30 and change it every 3000- 4000 miles (like 2- 4 weeks)

ok so your car is reading -40 cts NOW? or it was?

the cts can be the cause for the bad gas mileage IF, its not working right. i the cts is bad its going to be constantly in closed loop trying to warm the car up, however it wont. thisi s all of course if the cts isnt working right.

but -40 degrees would definitly a faulty cts

i thought because of the compression of a VE motor you had to run 93octane? tuned or not

The intake air temp is reading -40, not the coolant temp,

the coolant temp stays between 176-188 on the highway, then sitting at a light it can reach 205

I've put 15,000 miles on the car since I got it in early january 2011, the previous owner ran 87 in it from the time of motor swap on

Ill try running a tank or so of premium through it and see what happens, I should be changing the oil tuesday or thursday there is only 2700 miles on the oil now, it still looks pretty clean its just starting to change color,

this last oil I put in is now castrol syntec with edge technology, it is no longer castrol syntec they combined the edge oil into it, I wonder if that is causing any problems

I wonder if I should do an oil analysis, where do I go to get a kit or what companies do I contact to get one?

sorry, i misread, well it sounds like your ait definitly isnt working.

oil can cause gas mileage changes, for the worse if the oil is thicker than needed, dirty, and all that.

what oil weight are you running?

eh i mean if you want, change the oil, and run better grade of gas, and see how that does, if you dont feel there is a mechanical problem going on.

engines rely on tempatures and the tempatures vary in performance of the engines, such as the ait and the cts, both rely on tempatures to tell the ecu, how hot or cold the air is coming into the engine, and the cts telling the ecu how hot or cold the coolant is, and hen makes fuel adjustments in relation to the tempature of the coolant.

so i would try and go to the junk yard and pic up a AIT, to fix that problem, as it could give you performance problems.

So I've been paying close attention to the check engine light, if I clear the codes they won't come back up till I start the car again, as soon as I start the car they are there, I clear them off and they stay off, I start the car they are back and I clear them again

Does that mean the sensors are bad?

I have premium in the tank now, I dont know the mpg yet, I haven't noticed a difference in power or anything yet

Premium made no difference in anything, I ran 2 tanks to be sure and nothing, still the same 28-32mpg,
