Are GA motors loud?
My girlfriend has a 200sx with the ga and this car is loud as hell at idle. It sounds like it coming from the pass side of the motor like the timing chain or something. Its like a constant ticking that is just annoying as all hell. I duno if something is bad in the head or if ot has to do with the vtc. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

No way dude.Every GA car I have had ran like a sewing machine
If they didnt have a tach,I would wonder if it was still running sometimes at idle

yeah they are quite noisy especially with a lot of miles on them. They use a bucket style valvetrain and if not reshimmed they can be loud and they do have a lot of chain noise as well. If its excessive then its probably something wrong.

My ga has slack in the timing chains. Its noisy over 4000rpm. When the chains are running off the upper guide (or just bare metal) it sounds like something rattling but its just the links rubbing on the metal.

Ill sell you some ga parts though! I cant get rid of them!

It just sounds like loud ass injectors or the timing chain slapping the valve cover its just weird. I wad thinking maybe a bad tensioner?

Thats weird you guys have all these noisy engines.
Tearoffguy has a nx1600 with 220,000 purrs like a kitten. He got it from me,and I bought it with 100,000,and drove it for 80,000 miles.
Yes the injectors are loud, but thats just nissan injectors, lol.
I have owned 4 GA cars so far and all of them had way over 100,000 and ran quiet.
In fact I have a 98 GA for sale with 160,000 that runs like new still.

Pull the vc and see if the upper chain has any slack. Mine has about 1/2" of slack in the upper chain, still runs just fine. You could try using 10w30 oil or something a little thicker than what youre using now. When I used mobile 1 5w30 my oil was all sparkly when I drained it , 20w50 made the car so slow I couldnt get out of my own way, so I use 10w30 now.
