WTF???Axle nut
This dumb axle nut keeps backing itself out. I dont know why or how. I have tried putting lock tight on and that does not work. Only thing that keeps holding back the axle nut is my crown nut with cotter pin i have on there... i have read about this issue before but never really found an answer... Im about to place 2 washers instead of 1 behind the Nut so it has no room to back out before it hits the cotter pin. maybe that will work

I have never had this problem. How tight are you going on that nut? FSM says 250 ft-lbs I believe, and I always just put a 6 foot pole on the breaker bar and lean on it hard. Someone else said it; there is no such thing as too tight on that nut.
If you're getting it tight enough and it is still backing out, I don't have any suggestions.

Nissan has a cage to hold the nut and then the cotter pin goes in ... Most cars are like that ... strange Nissan didnt do that on these ...

Never seen one loosen , but I did them on my B14 Track car ..

SHAWNATGERBROCK, when he said he had a castle nut, I just assumed he meant that he had the castle looking cage thing. Maybe he really is using a castle nut?

Jensen, there should be a castle cage looking thing that goes over the regular nut, and the cotter pin goes through that. With these things in place the nut can't rotate more than a couple degrees before being stopped.

my bad. Its a axle nut with the stupid washer that comes with it that has little flaps on it. It locks the cotter pin so it wont back out. Yes i am using that Ben. I just take a impact and impact the damn thing on. And im scared of really hitting it cause i thought it could mess up the bearing if its on there 2 tight. but damn 250ftlbs is a hell of alot! lol

Just use a breaker bar. Ive never seen them back off when tightened that way.

Maybe you just have little girl arms?
