Weird clutch failure, stuck speedo sensor, mysterious oil leaks... suggestions?
Hey guys,
i am currently in the process of replacing my clutch and transmission.
after dropping my tranny and looking into the bellhousing everything looked normal. however after removing the clutch disk and inspecting it, i was shocked to see this:

anyone ever see this before or know what may have caused it? maybe a manufacturer defect? overabuse?

secondly, in the process of putting in a new tranny, my progress is halted by a stuck b13 sensor which i had trouble removing. anyone have any suggestions on how i can get this thing out so i can swap in the b14 speedo sensor?

and finally, i have noticed that there has been a wet spot developing at the very bottom of the engine where the bellhousing connects to the block.
1) i know that the valve cover gasket is leaking and needs replacement.
2) the rear main seal has been replaced a year ago (about 3000 miles ago)
I have done some searching and found out that it can be either the vc gasket, distributor seal, or rear main seal causing this, but do you guys have any other suggestions on where else this leak may be coming from???

thanks!

Nothing strange about that , seen that a few times, usually because either or both trans. to engine alignment dowels are damaged or missing .... Leak looks like a rear main seal , and the stuck speedo is pretty common also ... they get stuck , I always use some antisieze when installing ....

are there replacement dowel pins i can get, in the event that i am missing some or they're damaged?

UPDATE: after going at it some more, i finally got it off:

for b13s:
i pryed in between the gap. it must be done slowly and steadily otherwise you'll crack sensor housing as seen in my pics lol.

for b14s:
pull and twist while rocking it back and forth with a slow steady upward force. once i got a gap going on i slowly pryed with a flat screw driver. (do it slow and be careful not to crack the housing)

Yeah man ACT clutches do that.. I just had the same problem, they say they make the material weaker than the imput shaft. Lame.

i have just replaced the rear main seal a few months back which leads me to think it is NOT the source of leaking in this case. is there any other possibility? thanks for your suggestions!

that's what i thought. i wonder if it's even worth getting in touch with them to see if they are willing to do anything about it.
i hope my new spec stage 3 doesn't do the same thing.

If you do, let me know how it goes. My clutch seems to have done the same. Still need to pull off the transmission but I'm fairly confident it's the same. I'm hoping for an exchange as it's very new.
