which will give more hp?
presently i've got a sr20de lowport and i'm undecided which set of cams to get
firstly this is a budget build and i got some friends selling sr18de cams and sr20de highport cams
my question is which cams give the highest hp i've done alot of research and all i'm getting about the sr18de cams is that it is more aggressive and will yield more power
can anyone confirm this or should i just stick with the highport cams ?

I don't know about the sr18 cams, but you only get any gain out of the Highport intake cam, not the exhaust cam. The '91 cam is the best intake cam out of the highport cams.

I am pretty sure the SR18 cams suck......

Stick with the highport DE intake cam and you will be fine. It pulls a little bit harder up top compared to the stock SR20DE lowport intake cam.

You sure about that? I think all highport intake cams are the same, MAYBE the 10:1 highport being different but I even think that's the same. Now the lowports have a couple different ones, the 98+ being the smallest, 95-97 are the same. Not sure if the 94 lowport is the same as the 95-97 or if it's a tad bigger....

I just did a search but didn't come up with anything. I could be wrong, but I specifically remember this was debated a few years ago.

why make such assumptions have any of you guys tested the sr18de cams it would really suck to know that i used a set of cams with less hp than the ones with more hp just sitting there all because of improper knowledge
anyone with experience is called upon !!!

i'm aware of using only the intake camshaft of the 91-93 highport sr20de
presently i'm weighing my options as both sets of cams are readily available
i'm just trying to get the best between both

It just isn't relevant. The highport cam will only net you a couple WHP up top anyway. Where are you even going to find an sr18 cam? If you have such easy access, why don't you measure the lift and compare to the highport cam?

From what I have heard the SR18 cams have less duration and less lift making them worse cams than what you have in a high port SR20 intake cam and whatever exhaust cam you can find.

Since we are making assumptions that they are crap, why do you think they are some kind of hidden gem? Maybe you are perpetuated by some JGY told you?

when i found out that a sr18de motor was scrapping i thought to myself maybe these cams might be bigger considering the fact that its hp figure wasn't far from the sr20de one and something in the engine had to compensate for that so why not the cams and thats when i did a couple other research ,which stated that the sr18de cams have slightly bigger lifts and duration and worked wonders for their engine ,but the amount of results from searching wasn't much that's why i'm asking anyone in this forum if they have done it and what were there results ,simple as that and if the are really beneficial then you could really call them hidden gems as there is not much documented on this mod
but then again it could just as well be misinformation thats why i'm trying to bust this myth
fact or fiction
