Soft cut rev limiter making motor bog after staying on it for a minute.
OK so as you guys know, with fwd cars and alot of power you have to kind of stay on the rev limiter to get going. Most of you guys know what I mean. My Issues is that when the Rev limiter kicks in and If Im waiting from my speed to catch up to my spin. After being on it for a few sometimes the motor will bog (Im guessing from to much fuel). But I dont want to lean it out a lil unless I can. Is it safe to lean out out on the rev limiter since Im not getting that much spark there anyway?

Has anyone had this issue before? Fuel cut is 7950 or whatever the hell JWT sets it at when they up the rev limit. And my soft touch rev limit is at 7600. Any opinions?

My A/F ratios at rev limit are bouncing around from 12-15. I know this rev limiter works by cutting spark to a cylindar or two at a time. But when it gets back to sparking that cylinder if I lean it out itll run lean at 7600rpm which is no good. Not trying to blow anything up!

Factory limiters are all fuel cut as far as i'm aware, not spark cut??

This is true. To Clarify, I have an MSD box. This is where the 7600rpm 'spark' rev limiter is coming from. I have it set BELOW the fuel cut. So Im thinking when it cuts spark Im still spraying SOoo much fuel into the cylinder that its almost flooding out the motor. Then when it goes back to sparking that cylinder theres so much gas it cant fire. I DONT want to raise the rev limiter anymore as my power starts to fall right around 7800.

This is my theory. But if Im wrong and I do lean it out right at the 7600rpm rev limit I run the risk of just running lean for no reason right at redline which is a time bomb. So what im trying to figure out is how the hell Im supposed to fix this issue without leaning out.

I need to ride the rev limiter a lil bit to get the fastest acceleration out of the car

i think you need to be on computer rev not msd. mine is 7950 or something like that then msd is 8. i belive ur killing your spark and not fuel.

Yeah thats what Im saying. The spark is being cut. Not the fuel. So I think im killing the spark WITH fuel.

Holy shit your revving to 8k? Is your head built cause thats asking for trouble if not. But you know how when you hit your rev limiter its smooth? Mine isnt smooth like that. Your just revs up there and sits smoothly. Seriously though....are you revving to 8k? Is that what it was hitting when I was riding in it?

*Edit* Dave I get what your saying. But back to that 8k thing.

Nolbody has any input on this? Ive been watching you tube Videos of our cars and alot of people have smooth rev limiters. How are you guys doing it? By smooth I mean it just stays there and you can sit on it without it popping.

Im thinking I can lean it out at rev limit. But what about when it IS actually sparking. Ill be running lean then. Seriously somebody must have had this issue before. Turbo car dumping fuel gets spark taken away and still dumps fuel....help
