Yeah I don't remember what it was exactly. I de-wired my whole car a couple years ago, and do remember that part, and cutting it out, but not what it went to.
A diode allows current to flow in only one direction, we had some missing on an MG MGB that we had replaced all the cars harnesses on, it caused lights to turn on at the wrong time, and the ebrake light switch to cause the starter to opperate...lol...
