Thread: Need some knock sensor help...please

I have a 95 g20 five speed and what it was doing was cutting out and boggin down on take off. Gas mileage tanked on me and just genarly running bad.. Put a OEM sensor on it today and put plugs and wires because the car sat a few months. Sensor didnt help a bit. Car still bogs on take off...new clutch btw and just overall runs like crap. It does ok at higher rpm and on the highway but its still running rich. Ok. i have a cat on my car with the 02 sensor in it. This winter the bung that holds it in rusted out. The o2 sensor is good but its not actually in the cat. Will this affect the problem? It was running and boggin before this happened as well. I need somebodys help on this because my only car to get to work in is this or my se-r...i dont want the miles on it and it has fifth gear pop out so the gas mileage is not wonderful on that either....lol. What does the CEL say?
Check your fuel filter, air filter and clean the throttle body

Oh and the spark plugs and spark plug wires... You could be getting arching between the wires during low power and when its @ higher rpm it sends more current making it run better.

I dont have a way to read the CEL. The wires will arc if there new and in the factory separators? Ill check the fuel filter and TB . air cleaner is a k/n that i keep clean. Thank you for the info.

Turn the screw in the back of the ecu and count the number of times the CEL flashes which will tell you the code. Search and you will find the exact procedure and codes.

Silly ? do u do it with the ignition off or on? does it turn only one way or can it go clockwise or counter? Sorry im not a mechanic. Im just startin to fix this stuff myself. I was actualy quite proud just to get the knock sensor on..lol

Go to advanced auto and they'll let u use their code scanner. They actually have one on sale for $40 right now too if u wanted to buy one.
