Thread: Brake Light Sensor Pads

Hey everyone. I need to install a replacement pad on my brake pedal. Because my car currently does not have it my brake lights stay on all the time.

How do you get those pads out. I took a look at another car today and I could not really see how to remove it.

If anybody has replaced this part on their own car let me know how you went about it. Thanks.

The little rubber things? break them out, mine always break from the cold a/c on them, they are only like $1 from the dealer or greg v, dont use used ones its only a matter of time before they break too

They don't look like rubber. WHat I saw was white pads, that looked to be very hard plastic.

Yeah I used the wrong word, they are some kind of soft plastic, the newer ones are made out of a better material, the last time I got some they were a clear green material probably some kind of urethane or polymer, I usually keep extra on hand because I have 3 b-chassis cars

Well I ordered some from NIssan. Since they are already missing from the pedal I'll just try to press them in. I'll report back on how it goes.

usually when the brake lights stay on its because the plastic sensor broke an isnt working right any more.. could also need adjusted tho..

You can see them in this diagram. They are ltagged with number 11. They are rubber pads that go on the pedal and make contact with the two sensors that are part of the brake pedal.

These weren't that hard to install. You just have to lay down on your back somehow to get a good look at the brake pedal area. Push down with one arm then position the pads with the other. I pulled the pedal back up toward the sensors which allowed the pad to get seated correctly.
