Thread: lightweight battery options thread.

I had a Braille battery and had a bad experience with them. This was in my Sentra, which actually sits most of the year. I ordered model B14115, but what was shipped was their carbon fiber version model B14115c. I thought it would be OK, but while sitting up over the winter, the carbon fiber "case" separated and come spring the battery would no longer hold a charge. It was a huge hassle getting them to honor the warranty and send me a replacement, but they finally did. The new battery lasted thru last summer and sure enough this spring is dead and will no longer hold a charge. I even bought one of their trickle chargers like they told me I needed. As of this writing, they do not want to warranty me a second battery so I am shopping elsewhere.

I am very sorry to hear this, I sometimes get further because I work for a high volume shop.

I bought a 680 during my restoration. Let it sit too long without a trickle charger and it died. As in dead. Lasted less than a year.

I got a new one under warranty. Bought a trickle-charger from Sears. Used the trickle charger religiously. If I was not driving it, it was on the trickle-charger. Battery lasted 16 months and then was dead as a rock.

Not caring to waste my time fooling with it any more, and annoyed, I turned in the 680 at Auto-Stoned and bought a new full-sized battery.


Which is what I got instead of the 680. The red nicely matched my valve cover and silicone hoses.


Which does not solve the weight half of that equation.

More room and less weight.

Although at this point, I will probably move my full-sized heavy Optima Red Top to a passenger-side trunk mounted set-up. Better weight distribution and more room/less clutter in the bay.

I had a very similar experience. That's why I am trying the x2 battery. It has a 2 year no questions asked warranty and was 40% less and has more cca's when I tested both.
