On a side note. I just started using LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells from A123 racing in a couple of RC cars. Run time and charge time is awesome! I wonder if you could use these cells/flat packs as a light weight racing battery hmm?

I'll be grabbing one of these when I'm a little further with car,

You can run a small battery also if you want. But you may need a cap depending on the amp. When the car is running your getting most of your juice from the alternator anyway. Its when the car is NOT running that you need to be worried about battery life. I dont have a system at all. But every light in my car is turned to off also just because Id rather not wake up to a dead battery. I never played my system ,when I had them, with the car off anyway. So you shouldnt have to worry too much as long as you follow that.

I run the PC680. If I had to do it again Id probably run something else cheaper. But its a nice battery.

Cool, I had a 680 in my CRX with no stereo other than stock and it was perfect. Cool I think i may hop on a 680 again then.

If it was my car and I was getting back into systems Id be more worried about my Alternator then anything else. Step up to an Altima Alty or whatever the 100amp ones are. That way you wont have blinking lights and a slow acceleration everytime the bass hits.

Yeah my setup is very basic - 1 5 channel amp 65x4 and 200x1 for a 10" sub setup for sound quality not SPL.. Im running a newer alternator I bought from Andreas. Nothing dims at all its not that loud.

I have a "Universal Battery" or UB. It's made in China or someplace but it is the same as Hawker Genesis batteries I have had as far as weight and size and was the same CCA . The only thing is different is the terminals. I just use starter cable ends and a bolt instead of the bulky stock lead ends. I forget the price but I am thinking it was around $60 shipped, and I got it in 3 days.

"Johnson Controls makes Diehard (Sears), Duralast (AutoZone), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), and some EverStarts"

I don't believe they are making the everstarts anymore. Exide makes them. And die hard is now built by delphi iirc.

I don't think exide makes interstate.
