sr20de NEED INFO!
i drive a 94 sentra se-r with a sr20de i was driving at 70 mph in 5th gear and i started to lose compression. after this my water temp boosted to 306. normally around 240ish, i noticed white smoke in my rearview so i pulled off road and was in neutral so i shut the car off, i popped the hood and see some smoke but not much. now i try turning it back on and all i hear is the regular cranking sound but the motor isnt turning.
any info as to what i should check or do, or info about what it could be and how much for fixing or any ideas or tricks and tips help. thanks!!!

thats what some poeple have said but what are your opinions on either paying to fix or swapping? and do you know what it could cost at most and minimum?

If you can pull off the head and check, if the motor looks damaged you can swap, if its just the head gasket then you can just buy the head gasket and do the head and block surface to ensure proper sealing

Yeah, that badly overheated you will need to pull the head, clean the block and head surface very well and check it for warpage using a straight edge and feeler gauges. There is a method to doing this and a tolerance limit in the FSM. If the block and head checks out good then throw a new gasket on there. It would be a good idea to get the head resurfaced anyways while its off and usually doesnt cost much to do at a machine shop.

But that hot usually will cause ring tension to collapse and you will have a noticable difference in compression when all back together. A jdm motor is cheap and will last you a long time.

if you have the time/tools/spare whip, pull the head, and look for the gasket to be blown out around one of the cylinders/coolant passages. and if your going to reuse then DEF get the head resurfaced.

$450 can get you a JDM with higher compression and 40k miles

hold up did you say you normally hoover around 240 degrees in temps? excuse my ignorance and maybe i might not be reading it right but 240 is NOT normal at all for temps

x2. If you were hitting 240F, your fans either weren't on, have a bad thermostat, etc.

Fans should be coming on after 210~212F. Definitely a blown headgasket. Depending on your financial situation and the amount of time you have, swapping another DE into the car is the fastest, cheapest method.
