Thread: Starters...all SR20 the same?

I have a B15 (2001 Sentra SE) with a bad starter. My question is, are all SR20 starters the same? Can I get a B13 one and use it?

Cool, thanks, any idea how much one costs? I really need one ASAP, as my car is at Marco's shop off rt 1 and taking up space. (he let us use his place this weekend for some work) Drivewire has em, but then core charge and shipping are a b!tch!!!

Mmm.. I wonder if the B15 one is better quality than our b14/b13 ones.

from what I know, the B15 starter has a tendency to go bad. So, unless the B13 or B14 have the same problem, I would go with an older model starter. Sorta like the B15 MAF...

a b15 starter should run about 140ish with the core exchange.

Welp, low on funds, just found a used one on car-part.com at a salvage yard for $50 and it works.

Bad part is, that after taking out starters about 5 times in the past few years for various reasons, it takes about 30 mins or so to replace the starter. (Also having starter checked for free at Advanced Auto after I get it)

Yeah i had to replace my starter late in 07, was pretty easy to do, i made sure i got a Mitsubishi starter. Them Hitachi squeal like pigs....

i think they are all the same, i have gone through 2 starters on my B15

If you go to Autozone/Advance Auto they will say there are two different ones. One is like $200 (older), and one is like $130(newer). Never got why...

I got the 130 one and it worked in my car no problem. This was October of 06, so don't remember too many details
