Thread: Fuel Issue

Hey Gents. So I attempted to start my NX today. I've slowly been working through a JDM Highport DE install into it. It didn't start.

I think it might be a fuel issue.

Background on it. The fuel pump that was originally installed no longer worked so I replaced it with a junkyard piece. I drained all the old fuel out of the tank. Right now there is only about two gallons in the fuel tank. Fuel filter is new. Hose from the fuel filter goes to the upper fuel rail pipe, and the return hose is hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator.

The fuel pump does make the priming noise when I turned the key to on.

The back end of the car was lower than the front end due to the slope of my drive way. Anybody think that with 2 gallons of fuel in the car it is not enough?

I'm going to put in another gallon of fuel, and then disconnect the fuel feed hose and see if it dumps fuel into a soda bottle.

So my questions are.

Are my fuel hoses attached correctly? (Fuel feed to top pipe, and return to the regulator pipe)

If I detach the fuel feed hose should I get a stream of fuel coming out of it while trying to crank the car?

you could disconnect right after the filter, turn the key to prime, see if it dumps.

Well guys. I found out what the issue was today. It turns out I was feeding the return line instead of feeding the fuel filter line. My pump is good which is a plus. I just didn't want to have to pull it out, lol.

When I reconnected the lines at the tank I must have crossed them. For anybody that reads this on a future issue I'd suggest marking the feed and return hoses. Tracing from the front of the vehicle all the way would be a great idea. I put a zip tie on the line I thought was the feed to let me know what line went where. However when I attached the fuel tank back on the car I had already removed the zip tie. I must have crossed the lines at that point.
