Knock sensor functionality???
Sup guys ive just replaced my knock sensor but couldnt get it back on the block. Instead i put it next to the throttle cable. So my question is does the knock sensor pull the timing even if it doesnt get a cel? Ive been looking for any info on the other posts but couldnt find any. Thanks in advance

it will not always through a CEL but it does log the faults. If you hook up a scan tool you can see if there are any logged. Not sure it is doing anything where you have it mounted, if it is getting false readings it will pull timing.

Can knock sensors degrade anyway?

Its in the wrong place. It should be on the back of the block, nissan put it there for a reason! It could be subject to other vibrations or mechanical noise that may set it off and cause the ecu to pull timing.

Yes, they can, and it can go either way, stop working, or produce false positives for knock.

Even though it's a PITA the knock sensor MUST mount back in the same spot....engineering strategy courtesy of NISSAN,,,,

Will the ECU pull timing because of knock and not throw a CEL?

hold on the knock sensor sends positive signals throuhout the harness for other sensors( injector pulse or spark)?
