appreciating your car
I was driving with my buddy last night and when we stopped to get something to drink he said, is your rear left rim bent, cause it looks like it's rotating funny? I first told him that my rims are SUUUPPER dirty and i had my tires rotated a couple weeks ago which rubbed off a lot of the dirt, so it could just be that it looks weird rotating cause random parts of the rim near the center are clean
In any case i asked him if he minded switching cars on the drive home so i could check it out myself. (He has a 01 Corolla S which is a nice cruising car. Not the most comfortable car, but i wouldn't mind it as a DD. Back to the story...) When we got on the freeway I pulled into the lane on his left and slowed down so i was positioned slightly behind the car. I varied my speed to get different angles and i called him to tell him I didn't notice anything usual.
To the point of the thread. Has anyone else watched their car move? like what i did, watch someone else drive your car...i mean honestly, i smiled to myself watching my friend drive my car. like a i *heart* my b13 moment. all the things that i could never appreciate about the car while it's in motion I started to notice: the b14 rims and how sechs they look on a b13 in motion, how the hyperco/agx combo sits and even watching how the car moves and reacts in turns and bumps on the road (it looks so toooiitt ), and even while following my car snickering to myself because of how unassuming the a b13 looks (albeit i barely have basic bolt-ons, just knowing the capability of the chassis and the potential to make people ).
I just thought i'd share, it's one of those things i guess you'd just have to own, wrench on, and drive to appreciate the car. The analogy i just thought of was like working on something, like a painting, or anything you just find yourself lost in, maybe a project at work. and taking the time to step back and tilt your head when you look at it and smile at what you've done.
p.s. if this makes no sense, i'm sorry for the long post
