Need help with dizzy conversion.
Does anyone know how to convert an obd2 dizzy to obd1.
Basically I have a b14 running a b13 ecu and i want to convert my b14 dizzy to a b13 one with the external coil. I know i need plugs, dizzy and coil I just need to know what wires go where. If anyone is so kind to help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you

If you are using the B14 harness you dont need to do anything.

I need to convert to obd1 dizzy because the readings on an obd2 dizzy are different from the the obd1. The car runs ok but when put on the dyno on boost the timming is very off. Everything on the car is perfect guy that was tuning told me the dizzy needs to be changed, which makes sense.

Im interested to see how/why downgrading the dizzy to the old style would help. They're virtually identical from what I've seen, just one is combined in a single unit and the other is in 2. The cam sensor (which would control your timing) works the same in both iirc.

I'd research some more on here before you go cutting up your harness. Also a little more info on your car could help some of us help you. Why are you running a b13 ECU and not a B14 ECU in your B14? I personally would just stick with the B14 distributor and not mess with the harness.

Try setting your base timing and see if that helps. If it is a problem with the internal sensor, than just swap out with another B14 dizzy.

I ran a B14 dizzy (actually complete motor) on a b13 harness and ECU without issues. My timing was not off on the ECU side. If your actual does not match what the ECU thinks then just adjust the timing of the distributor. Not sure what he means when he says your timing is off?

oh yea, I definitely I'm not just going to jump the gun and change dizzy and go through the hassle of cutting my harness up, its just I thought someone has gone through tunning issues when using a b13 ecu on a b14 because when i went to the dyno the tuner told me that he was advancing timing and the car wouldnt advance, instead it would be choppy, and i checked everything b4 i left and it was all perfect. the only other thing i could suspect could be the knock sensor giving problems. And im using the b13 ecu because i sent out my b14 ecu to calum and when i got it back i guess shipping or something it was DOA. So i had spare b13 had it chipped and made a jumper harness for it and worked perfectly until i went to tune on boost.

The problem is elsewhere. was he advancing it through the tuning software or mechanically? If you advance mechanically the computer does not know the difference and remains the same from the software side.
