Thread: Swapping dashboards

Does the VIN plaque come off to transfer to the new dash? Never changed one before.

You have to drill out the rivets and then rivet it to the new dash. I swaped my dash last summer. It wasn't that hard.

when I swaped my dash the rivets popped off with a pair of pliers.

Vin plate comes off pretty easy, just use the end of a screw driver and push out the rivets from the bottom, comes right out.

I've changed plenty of cracked dashboards. Nothing illegal about that, is it?

make sure you use good rivets that FIT!...i changed my dash and use some rivets that i thought were big enought... days pass and i looked were my vin was and ..... IT WAS GONE! lol

Now, where to get a good dash?

the SER and NX shares the same dash, I have one in good shape. so do Jensen
